Time Zones Of The World
The time zones of the world vary based on where you are in the world. As theEarth is circular and always turning, time zones are necessary to keep proper time depending on where you are, so that you can know when the sun will rise and set or how many hours different other parts of the world are from where you are at that current moment. Many of these tine zones are relatively evenly spaced out based on a set amount of distance. However, some time zones vary due to the few number of people who live in them or vary based on politics of the country that they are covering.
- Pacific Standard Time. This time zone of the world covers the West Coast of North America, from Canada all the way to the end of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico. After that, however, the Pacific Standard Time zone doesn't really cover any more land except for a few islands in the Pacific.
- Eastern Standard Time. This time zone of the world cover the East Coast of the United States and much of Canada. But few people know that this time zone also runs through much of South America, like Ecuador and Venezuela, meaning that both continents have sections that are on the same time.
- Africa and Europe. Much of the continent of Europe and the vast majority of the middle of Africa are in the same time zone, which is one hour past Greenwich Time. This means that whatever time it is in Paris, it is also the same time in Namibia.
- Greenwich Time. The time zone that covers London, Ireland, Iceland and Portugal is Greenwhich time, which is the midpoint in time zones from the International date line on the other side of the world. Many of the world's time zones are based on their distance from the Greenwich time zone.
- China's Time Zone. Despite being one of the largest countries in the world and geographically stretching over almost five time zones in the world, China is all one one time zone. This is due to their political philosophy, making the day and night oddly timed in some places of the country in relation to the time that is kept in the main part of China.
