The top 10 female music artists are the queens of the music industry. Although they may represent different genres, they each possess incredible vocal talent. Many of these women have dominated the music charts and sold millions of records.

  1. Celine Dion Although she was the youngest of fourteen children, Celine Dion managed to grab worldwide attention. She demonstrates her powerful vocal ability in the song “My Heart Will Go On.” The song was featured in the 1997 hit movie “Titanic.”

  2. Madonna Madonna is one of the top-selling female music artists of all time. In addition to possessing an ear-catching voice, she is also an incredible entertainer with a colorful wardrobe. Her lengthy list of successful songs includes “Like a Virgin” and “Papa Don’t Preach.”

  3. Mariah Carey Carey broke into the music industry in the early 1990s. Her debut album simply titled “Mariah Carey” was just the beginning of her successful career as a female music artist. Her other albums include “Daydream” and “The Emancipation of Mimi.”

  4. Whitney Houston Houston is certainly one of most well-known female music artists out there. However, she has not limited herself to a successful singing career. She has also played leading roles in movies such as “The Bodyguard” and “Waiting to Exhale.”

  5. Barbra Streisand Streisand is a woman of many talents. She is an actor, director, producer and musical artist hailing from Brooklyn, New York. Streisand sits near the top of the Recording Industry Association of America’s list of top selling artists. Her albums include "Higher Ground" and "A Love Like Ours."

  6. Aretha Franklin Franklin is a popular female music artist known for her soulful singing. Her classics include “Freeway of Love” and “Respect.” Keith Richards inducted Aretha Franklin into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

  7. Ella Fitzgerald Fitzgerald is a famous female music artist who began her career at the Apollo Theater. She earned numerous awards during her lifetime, including a Presidential Medal of Freedom. The world lost this jazz legend in 1996. Her hits include "A-Tisket, A-Tasket" and "Goodnight My Love."

  8. Shania Twain Shania Twain is a music artist who comes from Ontario, Canada. Her country style has earned her much recognition. For example, in 2003 she earned a place in Canada’s Walk of Fame. Her first album was simply named "Shania Twain."

  9. Billie Holiday Holiday is a female music artist whose anti-racism song “Strange Fruit” turned many heads. Some of her most popular songs include “Riffin’ the Scotch” and “Carelessly.” This female music artist had a very distinct sound.

  10. Dionne Warwick Warwick is a female music artist who has won numerous awards for her chart-topping songs, including "Then Came You." She is the cousin of Whitney Houston.
