Top 5 Manny Pacquiao Moments

Here are the top 5 Manny Pacquiao moments. Manny Pacquiao is undeniably the greatest pound for pound boxer on the planet. He literally tears his opponents apart piece by piece. He's incredibly skillfull at connecting hard punches from angles that most fighters would have no luck connecting with any sort of power at all. He's unmatched in quickness and his technical ability to find holes in his opponents defense is unmatched. When you watch Manny Pacquiao, it's not a matter of whether he'll win or not. The question is how long it will take for him to dismantle his target. These are the top five greatest Manny Pacquiao moments:

  1. "The Pompyang". On March 13, 2010, Manny Pacquiao was scheduled to fight Joshua Clottey. The event turned out to be nothing more than a twelve round snorefest because of Clottey's excessive defense and inability to slow Pacquiao down. Though this lackluster fight was quite the disapointment, one of Manny Pacquiao's most entertaining moments happened in the fourth round. Sensing that his opponent had absolutely no chance of winning the bout, a less than serious Pacquiao connected with the "Pompyang". This is a two fisted punch thrown similar to the mechanics of clapping cymbals together. Totally illegal, yet totally hilarious, this move proved once again that Pacquiao was in total control of the match.
  2. The left hook from hell. Poor, poor Ricky Hatton thought he had a shot. On May 2, 2009, Hatton got beat like a dirty throw rug ... quickly. Manny managed to clobber this guy in the first round, making Hatton kiss the mat twice (and this isn't one of Manny Pacquiao's top moments). But like any predator, Pacquiao wanted to play with his food. Hatton managed to survive most of the second round chasing Pacquiao around the ring. In the spirit of Muhammad Ali, Pacquiao was just biding his time. Manny must have decided he was bored with the match, because he unleashed a left hook that connected like a MackTtruck knocking Hatton to la la land with under ten seconds left in the round.
  3. De La Hoya retires. Imagine beating someone so bad at their profession, that you actually cause them to retire. That's exactly what Pacquiao did to De La Hoya on December 6, 2008. This Manny Pacquiao "moment" is the entire contest. Pacquiao pummeled De La Hoya for eight rounds straight. It looked like Manny was sparring with a dummy. Pacquiao connected with over 220 hard hits while De La Hoya connected with 83. Of those 83 shot's, most of them were jabs. The fight had to be stopped because the Golden Boy was looking a lot like old copper.
  4. "Unfinished Business" On March 15, 2008 Pacquiao tied up a loose end by the name of Juan Manuel Marquez. Their match was devastatingly hard fought on both sides. Neither fighter really faltered throughout the match. But, Manny the "Mexikiller" was able to secure the victory with his trusty left hook. That hook hit like a guided missile, causing the only knock down in the fight and securing the victory.
  5. More Hamburger Helper please. The most impressive Manny Paquiao moment ever captured on TV had to be the night of November 14, 2009. Manny Paquiao faced off against the lion-hearted Miguel Cotto. Though the fight made it to the twelve round mark, there was no question about who dominated the fight. Just like so many times before, Pacquiao simply destroyed Cotto. Viewers could catch glimpses of Cotto's wife wincing has he took shot after destructive shot. Cotto's face looked like the innards of a Big Mac by the end of the fight. More importantly Paquiao set the record of being the only fighter in history to win seven titles in seven different weight classes.

Hopefully both camps can get it together so we can see the Mayweather Paquiao match up some time in the near future. We may have to update this list after that one.
