- Selecting Disk Mode. In order to transfer the music from your iPod to another iPod, first, you’ll have to download your music to a computer. It doesn’t matter what operative system you have. Music saved in an iPod can’t be transferred to a computer directly by iTunes so you’ll have to put it in Disk Mode. Pressing the select button and the play/pause button until the apple appears in the screen does this. Connect your iPod immediately to your computer using the USB cable.
- Saving information. Once the iPod is connected, look for the main folder on your computer (“Finder” for Mac and “My Computer” for Windows). Then look for your iPod in “External Discs”. It should be named as “E”, “F” or “G” and double click it. You’ll see a list of files of all the music contained by the iPod. Select all of them and make a right click (for Windows) or click with two fingers (for Mac) and select “Copy”. Then create a new file in any location, make a right click (for Windows) or a click with two fingers (for Mac) and select “Paste”. Remember to wait for the transfer to be completed before erasing the files from your iPod or removing the USB connection.
- iPod 2. Now you have to repeat step one with the iPod you want to transfer your music to. Enable Disk Mode by pressing the Play/Pause and Select buttons. Then connect it to the computer and repeat step two in order to open the folder of this iPod. You can connect both iPods at the same time, which will make transferring easier.
- Transferring the Music. Go back to the folder where you saved the music from iPod one. Make a right click (for Windows) or click with two fingers (for Mac) on the folder and select copy. Now paste it into the External Disc folder of your iPod. The transfer will last a few minutes. This will depend on the quantity of megabytes you are trying to transfer to your iPod. Once the transfer is complete remove your iPod, and that’s it. You have transferred music from an iPod to another one.
