- Songz began by releasing mix tapes under the moniker, Prince of Virginia. One of his mixtapes included an answer to the popular song "Trapped in the Closet" by R. Kelly. The song was entitled "Open the Closet". This was the beginning of the best of Trey Songz albums.
- "I Gotta Make It" This was Trey's first studio album, which was released on July 26, 2005 and instantly won him fans of all ages. Songz appeal as a sex symbol to the tween and recently legal women of the world gained him fans. His smooth sound earned him credibility amongst older listeners who were ready for real soulful R&B music. The single "Gotta Go" was a very popular video on music stations.
- "Trey Day" The album, which was released on October 2, 2007, came at a time when his fans were growing and hungry for more of his smooth sounds. Although his second album didn't sell as well as the first, Trey did release more singles on this album, including the popular song "Can't Help But Wait" which crossed over into the UK market as his first international hit.
- "Ready" Songz's third album was titled well because he was ready to express more mature emotions through his music. To continue his success in creating his list of best albums, Songz enlisted the help of great producers such as Brian Michael Cox and Sean Garrett. He had a winning team because this became his highest ranking album at that point, reaching #11 on the Billboard charts and garnering his first platinum status. Trey parlayed his R&B styled into the club scene by partnering with rapper Fabolous on the single "Say Aah."
- "Passion, Pain, & Pleasure" Released in the Fall of 2010, "Ready" has gone at least double platinum. Teaming up with such popular artists as Nicki Minaj on "Bottoms Up" and rapper Drake on "Unusual", this album is sure to continue to rise on the charts.
