Types Of Marijuana

Being a heavily cultivated plant, there many types of marijuana. The names alone are enough to excite the senses: Trainwreck, AK-47, Purple Dragon and more. The cultivation of marijuana has gotten serious as the academics have taken over and refined certain strains to insane levels of awesomeness. Besides making network TV bearable, the medical aspects of marijuana have been explored and that long haired smelly guy who preaches about weed at your university or street corner may actually be right. It is, indeed, a benign pain reliever and it is a lot easier on the system than the current opioid-based prescriptions that Western medicine feeds you today. But besides the myriad of names, there are basically two varieties of marijuana available for consumption.

  1. Indica Indica is a body high. The Indica strain is the the heart of the medical marijuana movement because it is a highly effective pain killer. The psychosomatic effects of a Sativa are debatable. An Indica strain is notable for not only physical pain relief, but pain relief with fewer side effects such as appetite loss or insomnia. Indicas work well with managing nerve pain or patients undergoing radiation based therapies.
  2. Sativa Sativa is a head high. The types of marijuana strains you will find for sale at your local dispensary will be stuff like Diesel, Endless Sky, Haze and Kali Mist. Basically, Sativa effects your mind more than the body. Your experiences with music, color and sound will be greatly affected by a quality Sativa. If you smoke and have a ton of energy to create anything, you have most likely smoked a Sativa. The problem with Sativa strains are they are more noted for the recreational qualities than the medical benefits.
