Usa Olympic Hockey Team 2010
Both the men's and women's USA Olympic hockey team 2010 squads reached as far as one could go without bringing home the gold, with both teams finishing the 2010 Winter Olympics with silver medals. Also in both cases, the Canadian Olympic hockey team won the gold.
On the Men's USA Olympic Hockey Team in 2010, the roster was highlighted by some of the best American players in the National Hockey League. Ryan Miller, Jonathan Quick and Tim Thomas played in goal while the likes of Brooks Orpik, Brian Rafalski, Ryan Callahan, Chris Drury, Patrick Kane, Dustin Brown, Jamie Langenbrunner and Zach Parise were among the skaters.
Team USA Olympic Hockey 2010 won all three of their preliminary games, defeating Switzerland, Norway and Canada. They entered the playoff round as a top seed, defeating Switzerland and Finland to reach the gold medal game. Playing in one of the most-watched Olympic hockey games ever, the U.S. men fell in overtime against Canada with a score of 3-2 to finish with the silver medal.
For the Women's USA Olympic Hockey Team in 2010, the team was stacked with notable women's hockey players including Angela Ruggiero, Julie Chu, Jenny Potter and Natalie Darwitz. Brianne McLaughlin, Molly Schaus and Jessie Vetter played for Team U.S.A. in goal.
Like the Men's U.S. Olympic Hockey Team, the U.S. Women's Team dominated their three preliminary games, defeating China, Russia and Finland and outscoring their opponents on an impressive 31-1 margin. Their play in the playoff round was equally impressive at first, defeating Sweden 9-1, but they were unfortunately shutout in the gold medal game, dropping the finals 2-0 to Canada.
