Personal Life. Born in Dallas, Taxes, Usher spent time in Chattanooga before moving to Atlanta, Georgia. This move came because of the area's benefits for young singers, as Usher's grandmother discovered he might be able to sing professionally at the age of nine. In his adult life, Usher married Tameka Foster in 2007. They had two children together (in 2007 and 2008); in June of 2009, they divorced after living separately for nearly a year.
Career. Usher rose to fame with his second album, "My Way," when his hit single "Nice and Slow" found its way to the Billboard Hot 100 at the top spot. With "U Remind Me" and other singles following it on his next album, Usher became a hot R&B artist very quickly. With seven albums, Usher has sold over 65 million records around the world. Usher has seven Grammy Awards, four World Music Awards, six American Music Awards and 19 Billboard Music Awards. You can find his name near the top of many best-selling music lists as well. He can also be seen in a number of movies, on television and as a part owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA).
