Vasectomy Side Effects

These vasectomy side effects may scare the pants off of most men. Since a vasectomy is done in quite a sensitive region, knowing what exactly could happen to your balls afterwards should be pretty high up on someone's list of priorities. The side effects of a vasectomy are sure to leave any man crying in a corner due to the inherent knowledge of how bad testicle problems hurt.

  1. Pain in the genital region. This is definitely not an area you want pain to be in, so bad news! This is the most common side effect of a vasectomy. It is a dull, aching pain in your scrotal area. Fortunately, this side effect can be helped by either using a cold compress on the area or by taking any over-the-counter pain reliever. It is recommended to take painkillers, because icing your balls is just awful.
  2. Swelling and bruising. While some men like to brag about having big testicles, swollen ones are not the desired kind, especially if they are bruised purple. The best way to deal with the swelling and bruising is to ice the area. If the area begins to ache extremely badly and you develop a fever, you might want to call a doctor. There is a good chance that your genitals are infected, which is most likely as painful as it sounds.
  3. Leaking sperm. This vasectomy side effect is one of the more serious ones. Unfortunately, the leaking does not happen from your penis, but from your testicles. There is a chance that semen will leak into your scrotal tissues, which will eventually cause a lump and give you more extremely awful pain. While it may be fun to pretend you are growing a third ball, you are not, so go see your doctor. He might get a kick out of you calling it your third ball, but he will also be able to help you.
  4. Abcesses. An abcess is a collection of pus accumulated in a usually infected area, which is not a very pretty sight when it is on your scrotum. Thankfully, this vasectomy side effect is rather rare and can be fixed with antibiotics.
  5. Erectile Dysfunction. Possibly the most terrifying side effect for a man, erectile dysfunction means you will have a hard time getting an erection or keeping it up. Since a vasectomy is generally used as a type of birth control, this side effect would pretty much ruin everything. Erectile dysfunction is often helped by relaxation. If that does not work, call up a doctor for some pharmaceutical aid.
