If you are lucky enough to own a few pairs of great vintage jeans, then you will need to know a few vintage jean maintenance tips. Taking care of vintage jeans is not like taking care of your regular jeans. You have to be a little more careful with them than you are with your normal clothing. Since they are older, they become more delicate as time goes on. There are a few things in particular that you need to know to properly maintain your vintage jeans.

  1. It is best to wash vintage jeans by hand in the sink. However, if you would rather use the washing machine, be sure to turn them inside out before you wash them. Be sure that you maintain them properly by washing them in cold water only and using the delicate cycle.
  2. You should air dry your vintage jeans if possible. If you don't like the stiff feeling that they have after air drying, you can let them dry by air until they are almost thoroughly dry and then put them in the dryer on a low heat setting for just a few minutes to finish out the process.
  3. If you have the money, the best possible way to take care of your vintage jeans is to have them dry cleaned. This cuts down on the wear and tear that they would normally experience in the washer and dryer, and your vintage jeans will last a much longer time. Remember to keep them folded and put away when you are not wearing them, so that you do not accidentally rip or tear them while they are hanging around the bedroom.
