It’s summertime, the kids are out of school and you’re looking for some really fun water parks in Virginia to visit. Where should you go? Virginia has many entertaining and enjoyable water parks to offer, but here are the five best that you should take a trip to with the family. So haul the kids into the SUV, bring your camera and plenty of sunblock and get ready for some wet and wild adventures.

  1. Kings Dominion (Waterworks) - Kings Dominion, located in East-Central Virginia, is a 400-acre amusement park that opened in 1975. Kings Dominion hosts sixty total rides, including fourteen roller coasters and fourteen water rides that are part of a dedicated nineteen-acre water park called Waterworks. Some highlights of Waterworks include the world's tallest enclosed dark tube slide and a huge water-powered playhouse with a swinging bridge.Kings Dominion is located at 16000 Theme Park Way, Doswell, VA 23047.
  2. SplashDown Waterpark – For those located in Northern Virginia, a great water park to visit is the SplashDown Waterpark in Manassas, Virginia. Here you can enjoy five water areas that are spread over eleven acres. Main attractions of SplashDown include: the 770-foot long Lazy River attraction, two fast slides, a beach with more than 250 tons of sand, and two four-story waterslides. Also, you have beach and grass volleyball courts along with tennis courts. It’s a water park for kids of all ages. SplashDown Waterpark: 7500 Ben Lomond Park Drive, Manassas, VA 20109.

Massanutten Resort - Massanutten is a four-season mountain resort where you can enjoy snow sports, golf, mountain biking, fishing, hiking, and numerous other recreational events that include a new indoor/outdoor water park. Massanutten's indoor WaterPark will blow your mind as it is a very unique multi-story enclosure with five slides, a giant tipping bucket, waterfalls, cannons, a lazy river and body slides. Water Country USA – Located in the southern part of Virginia, this water park is the mid-Atlantic's biggest and features  plummeting water slides, winding flumes, a free-floating river, waterfalls, caves, water curtains, lagoons and a huge Surfer's Bay with real surfing waves to ride. The newest attraction is a 75-foot drop waterslide that joins the 43 acres of pools, children’s play areas, lazy rivers and other water rides. Water Country USA is a water park that is a must-see if you’re in Virginia. It’s located at 176 Water Country Parkway, Williamsburg, VA 23187.
  5. Water Mine Family Swimmin' Hole – Another Northern Virginia water park, the Water Mine Swimmin’ Hole offers more than an acre of slides, flumes, sprays, showers, and floatables. It is circled by the Rattlesnake River attraction - a 2.5 mile per hour current that softly pushes tubes along. A bit of the American Old West is recreated here as kids will bump off of covered wagons, float on rattlesnakes and rush through showers that are tipped from water-filled ore carts. The Water Mine's attractions are mainly designed for younger children, but there’s something there for everyone. Its address is: 1400 Lake Fairfax Drive, Reston, VA 20190.
