What Causes Wet Dreams?

If you've ever woken up with a wet spot on your pants, you might be wondering what causes wet dreams? Wet dreams, sometimes known as nocturnal emissions, occur when the penis ejects some seminal fluid while a young man is asleep. Wet dreams are completely natural and are caused by a build up of hormones in the man's body—as such, most of these occur in teenage boys who are still developing or in guys experiencing a dry spell.

While there are ways to motivate one to have a wet dream, there is no conclusive way to induce one. Furthermore, the semen left on the man's groin is really the only tangible proof that a wet dream occurred—a man cannot willingly have one on his own accord. As previously stated, they are completely natural and occur spontaneously. However, talking about wet dreams still remains a taboo in most circles.

There is no real way to prevent having wet dreams. While manual masturbation or engaging in sexual activity may decrease the need for someone to release their bodily fluids, individuals may still experience nocturnal emissions while sleeping. Considering that wet dreams are the result of changes in the man's hormones and a part of the body's maturation process, there are no exercises or drug therapies that interested parties can engage in to prevent them. Once again, wet dreams are completely natural and should be allowed to happen when they do. The most that anybody should do is to simply change the sheets the next morning.
