What To Do When Your Bored In Class
Nothing is more frustrating than not knowing what to do when you are bored in class. Maybe the teacher is just droning on about something. Maybe all of your work is done but you are stuck there and can't leave. Whatever the reason, it is important that you stay busy to make sure the time passes by quickly.
You will need:
- Book
- Writing utensil
- Piece of paper
- Cell phone that can send text messages or go online
- A vivid imagination or a drawing skill
- Assess the situation. This will determine what you can do when you are bored in class. If the teacher is speaking and you sit in the front row, your options may be limited. If the teacher is behind the desk and not paying any attention, you are going to have a little more freedom. Take a look around and come up with some idea of what you can get away with.
- Spend some time drawing. If you have a chance, you can take out a piece of paper and draw something. Popular choices for drawing include pictures of the teacher, other classmates or a comic book that you have been working on since you were twelve.
- Read a book. If it isn't going to be a problem, you can catch up on some reading. Remember that if you aren't interested in reading an “educational” book, you can always hide your book behind a textbook. This way you can look studious while having a good time.
- Spend some time online. If your cell phone has access to the internet, you can browse around to look through the latest sports scores, news or celebrity photos. If you are concerned about getting caught, place the phone under the table or desk and have the textbook out so it looks like you are reading.
- Create a story. Sometimes when you are bored in class there aren't a lot of options for you. In this case, write a story about what you might be doing instead of wasting your time in class. You can use your teacher and classmates as characters or just put yourself as far away from education as you possibly can. Try not to laugh at yourself out loud as this could cause too much unwanted attention.
- Ask to be excused. It can't hurt to just ask and see what the teachers says if you ask to leave. If you know that isn't going to fly you can always just ask to go to the bathroom or the library and spend some time wandering the halls. There is a good chance that the teacher is going to lose track of when you left and how long it took you to go. When you get bored in class, a break is always nice.
- Practice writing backwards. If all else fails and you want to look studious without actually working, take the time to practice whatever is written on the board, on a worksheet or even on a poster backwards. While this is not only a challenge for your mind and motor skills, it becomes a neat trick that you can use to pick up girls and start conversations. When you are bored in class, this is a sure fire way to pass the time.
If you aren't sure what to do when you are bored in class, try out some of these suggestions and avoid getting caught at all costs.
