What To Do When Your Ipod Freezes

Do you need to know what to do when your iPod freezes? If your iPod freezes and is unresponsive, you need to reset it so that it will work again. Instructions on how to do this vary based on which model of iPod you have. Read on to learn more about what to do when your iPod freezes:

You will need:

  • iPod
  • iPod charger and/or USB cable
  • Computer

Follow these steps to reset your iPod Nano:

  1. If your iPod Nano freezes, press and hold the "Volume Down" button and the "Sleep/Wake" button at the same time. Hold the buttons until the Apple logo appears, which usually takes about eight seconds. You may need to hold down the buttons more than once before the logo appears.
  2. If the above step does not work, try to reset your iPod Nano again when it is plugged in. Try either plugging it into the charger, into the wall or connecting it to your computer via USB cable.

Follow these steps to reset your iPod if it has a click wheel:

  1. Slide your iPod's hold switch to on, then turn it off again. Then press and hold the "Menu" and "Center" buttons until the Apple logo appears, which usually takes about eight seconds. You may need to hold down the buttons more than once before the logo appears. Make sure that your iPod is on a flat surface when you do this step.
  2. If the above step does not work, try to reset your iPod again when it is plugged in. Try either plugging it into the charger, into the wall or connecting it to your computer via USB cable.

Follow these steps to reset your iPod if it has a scroll wheel or touch wheel:

  1. Slide your iPod's hold switch to on, then turn it off again. Then press and hold the "Play/Pause" and "Menu" buttons until the Apple logo appears, which usually takes about eight seconds. You may need to hold down the buttons more than once before the logo appears.  
  2. If the above step does not work, try to reset your iPod again when it is plugged in. Try either plugging it into the charger, into the wall or connecting it to your computer via USB cable.

Follow these steps to reset your iPod shuffle:

  1. Turn your iPod shuffle off. Wait ten seconds. Move the switch to either the shuffle or play in order position.
  2. If the above step does not work, try to reset your iPod shuffle again when it is plugged in. Try either plugging it into the charger, into the wall or connecting it to your computer via USB cable.

Follow these steps to reset your iPod touch:

  1. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. This typically takes about eight seconds.
  2. If the above step does not work, try to reset your iPod touch again when it is plugged in. Try either plugging it into the charger, into the wall or connecting it to your computer via USB cable.
