Some men may ask themselves "what does gay mean?" Many people learn what being gay means early on in their life for various reasons. Some feel like they are different sexually than others without really pinpointing that difference until later. Others say they have known they were gay as far back as they can remember. Either way, here is a basic rundown of what being gay means.

Physical Attraction While growing up, some men have never felt attracted to the opposite sex, and instead noticed other guys they felt sexually attracted to. Having a sexual attraction to the same sex is the most basic definition of being gay.

Nature vs. Nurture The long ongoing debate about whether or not being gay is innate or learned is still going strong. Recent studies have shown that there are consistent differences in certain areas of the brain between heterosexuals and homosexuals. But even with this evidence there are researchers in the scientific community who say this information is inconclusive and that it is too early to say one way or the other.

Inborn or not, being gay means that you are sexually and emotionally attracted to having romantic relationships within your same sex.
