What Does Green Poop Mean

Green poop can be a result of multiple causes. The most common reason is what you have eaten. A lot of green and/or leafy vegetables can cause green poop. This could be lettuce, broccoli and peas for example. An increase of food coloring in your diet can cause green poop. This could include juice, popsicles, or any brightly colored food. Even if the item you are consuming is not a green color, it could still have green dye in it.
Iron supplements and anecdotes can also change the color of poop, as well as other medications. Even an increase in Iron, such as the iron you get from beans and red meat could cause a greenish color. Bile, which is produced during the digestive process, can turn poop a greenish color. It can be a result of an infection, but more commonly its due to swallowing mucous.
Unfortunately, healthy diets are more likely to cause green poop. Diets that consistent of vibrant veggies and fruits, health portions of meat and carbohydrates and any sort of supplement are likely to alter the color. Nothing to fear in this instance. Green poop does not cause any health factors.
Green poop usually goes away on its own. Try altering your diet or discontinue the use of vitamins and enhancements if the color stays for several days. If those methods do not work, or the color is accompanied by a fever, nausea, pain or a change in consistency then consult a doctor.
