What Is A Down Low Brother?

What is a "Down Low Brother?"  There are African American males living secret lives without the knowledge of their significant others. These men are heterosexual on the surface, but homosexual in private unbeknownst to his wife, girlfriend and/or family.

Definition of a "Down Low Brother."  A "Down Low Brother" is the phrase used to define an African American male who to all concerned is living a heterosexual lifestyle. From the outside, he is a man who desires spending time and a relationship with a woman.  Yet, on the inside, he is hiding a relationship with a man and the desires to be with a man.   

What Does a "Down Low Brother" Look like.  He looks like everyone else. He has a wife, a girlfriend, he has children he can be successful, wears Armani suits, ,he is a businessman, a teenager, blue collar worker, he can be a thug, a gangster rapper. He can be anybody and look like anyone. He keeps this part of his life a well hidden secret. No ones knows other than he and his male lover that he is on the "down low."  

What Does The Female do When Your Man Is On The "Down Low." You know or you've discovered your husband, man or lover is on the "Down Low."  It's time for you to make some important decisions. You must ask yourself some questions: 

1. Do you love him enough to stay with him?
2. Is a relationship with him worth the risk?
3. He is cheating and he is cheating with a man. Can you and are you willing to share him? 

A brother on the "Down Low" is cheating, gay and having sexual relationships with another man. So, once again in retrospect: A down low brother is a man who is living outwardly with a female, in a heterosexual relationship, but is having a secret relationship with a male.
