Looking for information on what is Facebook? Facebook is one of the most popular social networking websites in the world. They have over 500 million members throughout the world. What is interesting about that statistic is the fact that the vast majority (approximately 70%) of their over 500 million members live outside of the United States. If you are looking to connect with old friends from high school or if you just want to keep in contact with your current friends, Facebook is a great community to be apart of.

Mark Zuckerburg started Facebook in 2004. As you may or may not know, there was a movie, called "The Social Network", that was released in 2010 that followed the story of how Zuckerburg, a Harvard student at the time, came about creating the social networking giant that is known as Facebook. Although Facebook was originally created as a way for professors to connect with their students, by 2006 anyone over the age of thirteen could join the website as long as they had a valid e-mail address. Now, people over the age of 30 make up the fastest growing group on Facebook, which just shows how the website has grown over the years.

The average person has around 130 friends on their Facebook page, although there are many people who have thousands of friends. In addition to being able to connect with friends via posting on their wall, private messaging and instant messaging, you can also use Facebook to upload your photos and videos to. As a matter of fact, Facebook is the top photo sharing website in the world. You can customize your profile to include information about yourself, such as your contact information, job and education, and you can also add your hobbies and interests, including your favorite movies, music and much more. There are even tons of free games available on Facebook in a wide variety of categories that you can play, such as action, shooting and sports.
