Looking for information on what to pack for vacation? Many people are so excited to go on vacation that they forget to pack the essentials they will need. Before you head out the door, take a look at the list below to make sure you are not forgetting anything. Nobody likes having to spend their vacation money on products that he left at home.

  1. Clothing. When packing for vacation, clothing may sound like an obvious essential to pack, but many people often forget to pack specific items of clothing, such as underwear and socks. When you are packing vacation clothing, you need to think about the climate in the area you are traveling. If it is warm there, you'll probably want to pack T-shirts, shorts and sandals. If it is chilly where you are going on vacation, make sure not to forget a jacket, pants and a sweater.
  2. Toiletries. Packing toiletries is an absolute must when you are going on vacation. Toiletries you'll want to bring include sunblock, shampoo, your toothbrush, toothpaste and, of course, deodorant. To make sure you don't forget to pack any toiletries, you may want to purchase a small toiletries bag and place it on your bathroom counter so you can toss everything in the morning before you leave for vacation.
  3. Identification. Unless you are driving to your vacation spot, you must bring a form of identification with you. If you are taking a flight or boarding a boat for a cruise, you will be asked to show a form of state or federal issued identification, such as a driver's license or passport. If you are traveling internationally, you will absolutely need your passport.
  4. Medication. If you are on any medication, be sure to bring them with you. Even if you are not on any prescription medications, it is always a good idea to pack pain killers, allergy medication and acid reflex reducers.
  5. Electronics. If you are driving to your vacation spot, it is always a good idea to have a cell phone on you in the event of an emergency. If you are flying or taking a cruise to your vacation spot, you may want to bring a portable DVD player, portable video game console or MP3 player to help pass the travel time.

Tips:

  • If you often forget what to pack for vacation, you may want to consider having separate bags for separate items and labeling the bags as clothing, toiletries and so on so nothing is left at home.
