With the advanced progression of science and research many people wonder what is scientific fraud? Scientific fraud is simply defined as counterfeiting information or statistical data to maintain certain results. Sometimes scientific fraud engulfs unfair evaluation of results and altering effecting data. In the context of scientific fraud comes the illegal ownership of information that should otherwise be accredited to others.
While working on new technology the procedure starts from basics and later expands on a magnanimous level. This involves many minor steps. Often times years of research only bring about a simple result, however scientific fraud can take place at many levels.
Sometimes working on scientific projects involves working alongside hundreds of people and coordinators who work to help keep the project moving along. Scientific fraud can often practiced at this level. For instance if during observation any of the readings are altered, the end result may be altered. Similarly, submitting ideas that belong to a colleague also comes under the category of scientific fraud.
It is often very difficult to assess scientific fraud. The reason being that scientific research is a lengthy process that requires hours of toiling. All this work sometimes achieves no result and has to eventually be discarded. If during that time any calculation or observation is accidently collected in the final data the whole result can be altered. This kind of situation could mean the allegation is of an accidental nature and cannot come under the category of scientific fraud.
Sometimes scientific fraud stems from biased personnel looking for an opportunity to achieve targets. In such cases of scientific fraud, the calculations and observations are exaggerated. This type of scientific fraud can alter the results even more drastically.
