Many couples will agree that a healthy sex life is very important, but what is sexual health? Sexual health is a very broad area. It varies between male and female and even in the age of the individual. Because it is different for everyone, you have to figure out what it means for you.

From the time of birth and throughout adolescence and adulthood, your body changes. It is important for it to work the way that it should. When it comes to sexual health, you may get many ideas in your head about what it is and how it affects you. The main thing is that it does pertain to your health, but not just the aspect of your health that we are all used to, such as fevers, colds or sore throats. It address the more specific aspect of your sexuality (and not just in the sense of being sexually active).

Having a natural feeling toward sex or not having a feeling at all would be an area discussed in sexual health. Have your doctor check to see if your reproductive organs are working as they should, or if you even have properly functioning organs to presume a normal sex life. As mentioned before, sexual health is a very broad area and it can be different for everyone. For example, for a woman, it could mean testing her estrogen levels to make sure they are at a normal level for her demographic. As for a man, it could mean testing his sperm count to make sure that he is producing the correct numbers to perform the way he should for his demographic.

Remember that sexual health is important when you are making those appointments for your annual check up or to get your teeth cleaned, The more you are aware of what is going on with your body, the better the chances are that you are healthy and can prevent illness from occurring. This is also very important for early intervention, in the case that a doctor did find something significant. It can be treated right away to prevent it from becoming something even bigger.
