Trial and error is how you will find what to use to clean off mildew on boat seats. There are times when simple elbow grease and water is all you need to clean off mildew. However, if you have tried water and it is not getting the job done, you will need some chemicals to get your boat seats clean.

Things you may need:

  • Brush
  • Bucket
  • Water source
  • Cleaning chemicals
  • Towel
  1. Use a soft-bristle brush on mildew. Get the brush damp with water and gently try to clean off mildew on the boat seats. If all of the mildew comes off using the brush, just dry off the seats with an old towel and go for a boat ride.
  2. If the mildew remains, use a mildew remover. There are many mildew remover products on the market, so do some research to choose one that is right for the fabric of your boat seats. Apply the spray to clean off mildew on boat seats, then follow the instructions on the container.
  3. Apply a second coat of mildew remover, if necessary. Depending on how bad your mildew problem is, you may need another application of the chemical to clean off mildew on boat seats. Try brushing the chemical into the fabric to see if that gets the mildew off.
  4. Once you clean off mildew on boat seats with a chemical, make sure to remove the residue. When all of the mildew is gone, either use a hose or bucket of water to get the chemical off of the seats. Make sure if you use a brush that you do not scrape the seats too hard or you may damage the material.
