What To Wear For Sailing

If you are planning your first sailing trip, you might want to know what to wear for sailing so you can plan accordingly. Sailing can be a fun, relaxing activity that you can enjoy with friends. By wearing the appropriate apparel, you will be able to enjoy your day of sailing a little easier. Here are a few suggestions on what to wear for sailing:

  1.  Wear a hat. It is important to wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun as much as possible. There is no shade while sailing and the sun reflects off of the water, making it even easier to burn.
  2. Sunglasses are also a good idea. Sunglasses will help protect your eyes from the sun. The sun seems a lot brighter when it reflects off the water all day. Sunglasses will also protect your eyes from any salt water splashing in them if you are sailing on an ocean. Besides all of that, sunglasses will definitely make a fashion statement.
  3. A jacket or windbreaker is important to remember. It is often a little colder on the water than it is on land, and it is also windy when sailing. If you wear a jacket or something that can break up the wind when it hits you, it won't be so brutal. It is also a good idea to dress in layers, because sometimes temperatures increase as the day goes on.
  4. Wear shoes that have good traction on the bottom. When water gets on the deck of the boat, it gets slippery. If you have shoes with good traction you won't slip as easily.

Whatever you decide to wear for sailing, remember first and foremost to dress comfortably; this will help you enjoy your day!
