When determining what to wear for a wedding there is no need to panic. Attending a wedding does not necessarily require tuxedos and top hats. Often, many wedding functions can feature semi-formal or even informal attire. The key is to determine whether the event is formal or otherwise. This information is usually displayed on the invitation. Generally, if the invitation does not allude to the event being formal, then a semi-casual attire can be worn. There are several other rules for wedding attire.

  1. Time of the day: Time of the day has a definite effect on whether or not the attire is formal. It is important that when finding out what to wear for a wedding, that if the wedding is in the daytime then generally a very nice dark suit can be worn. It is important not to wear a white suit as this can often be seen as overdoing it. Most weddings take place in the daytime which makes the clothes selection easier for those who need to know what to wear for a wedding. For weddings that occur at night, a white suit can often be worn. For those who prefer darker suits, a tuxedo can be worn as well. It is important to ensure that the event is formal when wearing a tuxedo to prevent “overdressing”
  2. Blend in: For those who wish hate to dress formal the key is to remember to blend in. If attending a formal wedding in which all men are wearing tuxedos, a pair of Bermuda shorts and a shirt will stand out. If the wedding is informal, often business casual attire will satisfactorily blend in. When deciding what to wear for a wedding, it is important to remember that business casual needs to be used carefully. Choose dark colors, wear pants, and remember that the event is dressy so remember to skip the tennis shoes. If the event is formal, then a simple black suit and tie will allow for the proper blending in.
  3. Less is more: For those who like to be the “life of the party,” remember to not steal the show from the bride and groom. The number one rule when finding out what to wear for a wedding is never intentionally dress to stand out. If the event is semi-formal, then wearing an extremely nice suit should gain the proper admiration without being a scene stealer. Accessories such as hats and shoes will garner plenty of admiration without being a distraction. When in doubt, consider this when deciding on what to wear to a wedding.

Finding out what to wear for a wedding is very simple. The bride and groom are the star of the show. The guests do not want a distraction and neither do the bride and groom. For those who want to look great and be noticed it is important to find the most gorgeous clothes that fall within these parameters. Picking out what to wear for a wedding can be quite easy for those who follow these rules.
