Need help figuring out what to wear to a winter wedding? Just because a wedding is in the winter time, doesn't mean that what you wear is any less important. To dress for a winter wedding, many things need to be taken into consideration, such as the following when deciding what to wear to a winter wedding:

  1. Wearing a regular suit, just like you would to a summer wedding, is still an option. Because you have to worry more about smudges and stains from snow, it's better not to go with a black suit. You can get fabric complications because of salts they put out in the winter time. It's better to go with a dark grey or heather grey colored suit. However, if this is a black-tie only wedding, a black suit will have to make due. Be sure to have it dry-cleaned as close to the wedding as possible because it will help to combat the elements. Wool fabrics are also an option for winter weddings because they compliment the weather well. For more casual wedding attire, wearing dark trousers, a cashmere sweater, and a blazer would be a great option.
  2. When picking shoes, this is where you will find the most complication. Since most winter weddings are held indoor, change your shoes when you get inside so you don't have to worry about any damage or discoloration of your shoes. If this is not an option, wearing your dress shoes would have to make due. However, make sure you have the option of wiping them off and cleaning them up prior to taking your seat. If you plan to wear thicker socks, be sure to keep this in mind when purchasing your shoes.
  3. Lastly, when choosing a tie to wear with your outfit, it is important not to try and jazz things up. Stick to a black or charcoal colored tie in the winter time. A colorful tie will be too distracting and doesn't go well with the season.
