Who Owns Facebook?
Who owns Facebook? The origins of Facebook have a very rough history, but there is an official owner no matter what suits are filed and who did what. The popular networking site known as Facebook has been debated greatly about who should rightfully own it due to ideas being allegedly stolen and immoral tactics being used for money and power. Even with all of these problems over the rights of Facebook, only one man can own it, and that man is either really smart, immoral, or maybe a little bit of both.
Facebook began in Feburary of 2004, with a nerd named Zuckerberg. Mark Zuckerberg, a sophomore at Harvard, started Facebook just to connect his friends at college. It started off as “thefacebook.com” at Harvard but soon to spread beyond the prestigious university over its, up to this point, seven year life span. Facebook came with some problems almost as soon as it was started up in 2004 with three college seniors claiming the idea of a social networking site called Facebook as their idea.
Zuckerberg has faced lawsuits from the aforementioned seniors. From this trial came many controversies surrounding Mark Zuckerberg. Don’t be fooled by the movie, there is enough drama with the real story of Facebook! The legal fight has been going on since 2004 and from it has come proof of Zuckerberg using personal passwords and email address gained from Facebook servers to hack into people’s email accounts and read their private messages. The main issue that came out during the lawsuit was that Zuckerberg had originally been commissioned by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss to work on a site that would do essentially what Facebook does today. Allegations were made that Zuckerberg had stopped the project on purpose just so he could take the Facebook idea for his own and develop his own site. While these legal disputes may be going on for awhile, for now, Zuckerberg is the owner of Facebook and it doesn’t seem like that will change anytime in the near future.
