Why Is Education Important?
In a weakened economy people are bound to ask the question "Why is education important?" When times are tough and jobs become harder to find more and more people are looking to enter the job force as a way to make extra money. If you are a college graduate without a job then you may think that taking out loans for higher learning was a waste of time and money. Well you are correct that taking out loans was not the smartest idea, but the time spent in college, getting an education can prove to be useful in the future for a number of reasons.
Higher Paying Jobs. Not every college graduate will find themselves immediately becoming the CEO of some Fortune 500 company. So if you are dreaming of automatically becoming rich just by attending college then its time for you to wake up. It has been reported that individuals with a Bachelors degree earn double the amount of a high school graduate in their lifetime. The more education that you consume the higher your earnings are over your lifetime
Opens new doors. Getting an education is important because it can open up doors for you. These are doors that would not have been opened if you were working at Taco Bell or McDonalds full-time instead of going to school. You may notice your friends buying all of the new Apple products now, because they are the junior assistants at Taco Bell. But by spending your time getting an education maybe in 10 years you'll own that franchise where your highschool buddy just became manager.
Develops all of your skills. School is notorious for teaching kids things that they will probably never use again. However, school develops all of your skills while you are getting an education. You are able to develop your verbal skills by communicating with people and your critical thinking skills. An education teaches you the basics so that you will be at least a little bit prepared when you get your first internship.
