Looking for information on: why is my poop green? There are actually many reasons that you could have green poop. Of course, there are some foods that are capable of changing the color of your stool. For example, if you have recently consumed foods such as green beans, olives, green peppers or peas, they could all be changing the color of your poop until they pass through your system. Drinking some cow milk formulas can also make your poop green.

In addition to certain foods, there are many medical conditions that can also make your poop green. Some of those medical conditions include salmonella, giardia, intestinal disorders and gastroenteritis. There are many intestinal disorders that can alter the color of your poop, such as celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease and ulcerative colitis. If you had salmonella or giardia, it is likely that you would have diarrhea in addition to the green poop. If you are taking a postnasal drip for allergies or an upper respiratory condition and swallowed it, that can also cause your stool to change to a green color.

Generally speaking, there is no immediate concern if you are only suffering from having green poop. However, if other symptoms are present, such as stomach pain or diarrhea, it is recommended that you contact your primary care physician so that he or she can determine if there is an underlying medical condition that is causing your poop to turn green. Your doctor may obtain a stool sample from you so that it can be evaluated under a microscope and tested for one of the aforementioned conditions that cause green poop.
