If you injest more than the recommended daily recommended amount of zinc, you should watch for zinc poisoning symptoms. A small amount of zinc is necessary for a healthy and balanced diet, but being exposed to more than 10 times the healthy amount can result in zinc poisoning. The recommended amount of zinc  ranges from 12 to 15 milligrams for an average adult. Most of the zinc you get is from foods that have absorbed zinc, and it is very unusual to overdose from eating foods that contain zinc. One of the most common ways to be exposed to to much zinc is from denture cream.  This list includes some of the most common symptoms of zinc poisoning.

  1. Intestinal problems. Since zinc is an intestinal irritant, this is one of the first signs of zinc poisoning. These symptoms include vomiting, stomach cramps, diarrhea, and feeling nauseous.
  2. Numbness. Zinc poisoning can cause problems with your neurological symptoms. This includes a numbness and tingling feeling in the arms and legs. It could also include a pinching feeling or sharp deep stabs in the arms and legs.
  3. Seizures. Seizures and convulsions are also symptoms of zinc poisoning. There is also the possibility of feeling weakness in your muscles, and it can evel lead to paralysis.
  4. No urine output. This is another common symptom of zinc poisoning. Many people find that they have an extreme decrease in their urine output, as well as no urine output at all.
  5. Metallic taste in your mouth. This symptom occurs because zinc is considered a metal. The metallic taste can occur when you eat food and the food tastes metallic, and often just lingers in your mouth.
