A suspect and his accomplice remain at large after pelting avocados at a clerk and another worker in a Bronx store near Yankee Stadium, CBS reports. The assailants also hurled bananas at the clerk, who was hospitalized with a laceration and fractures to his face, as well as a broken jaw.
What gives, you ask? Well, the suspects allegedly became irate after arguing over their food order at Stadium Gourmet Deli. Owner Hany Girgis says that his recently hired employee does not speak English, so the clerk offered to translate. Well, that seriously pissed off one of the suspects. Naturally, the pair felt that a classic Mrs. Doubtfire-style fruiting was in order.
“This is not normal, how somebody try to give you service and you throw avocado—this is no good,” Girgis told CBS. “If you give order and you wait 10 minutes, this is no reason to do what you do.”
The menaces also destroyed the store before fleeing the scene, but they were caught
red avocado-handed on camera. Now authorities are asking for the public’s help: The first suspect is described as a Hispanic man between 25 and 30-years-old, about 5’7″ to 5’10” tall and 170 to 190 pounds, last seen wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and multi-colored kicks. The second dude is described as a black male around the same age with the same measurements, last seen wearing a white T-shirt, a blue vest, blue jeans, and blue and white sneakers.
Those descriptors should help police catch ’em. And with all-avocado restaurants popping up like the goddamn plague, might we suggest they start there?
