Don’t mess with Jennifer Garner and her family. While the actress may look like sweet, she just proved that’s not always the case, going off on People magazine’s unauthorized story about her and her infamous split from her husband Ben Affleck.

If you happen to pick up the new issue, just know that Garner does not approve of it. She’s seen smiling on the cover along with the headline “Life After Heartbreak.” It might appear as though the 45-year-old actress willingly posed for the magazine and perhaps even gave a candid interview following her breakup with Affleck, but think again.

“This isn’t a tragedy by any measure,” she wrote in a Facebook post, “but it does affect me and my family and so, before my mom’s garden club lights up her phone, I wanted to set the record straight: I did not pose for this cover. I did not participate in or authorize this article.”

We just love that garden club line.

People’s story claims an insider said that Garner’s decision to file for divorce from Affleck was “the most difficult decision for her” and their three children, Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5. The magazine story also states that Garner isn’t ready to date because “Ben was the love of her life.”

Garner didn’t shut down those claims, but she did say that she wanted to set the record straight. Generally sticking to the high road, she ended her note with: “I have three wonderful kids and my family is complete. Have a beautiful day, Love, Jen.”

Killing ’em with kindness. That’s how it’s done, people.
