You may have your opinion—or should we say bets in—about who is going to win the Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor fight on August 26th in Las Vegas, but what does a real fighting champ have to say about the whole, epic showdown? Mike Tyson recently revealed who he thinks stands a chance in the ring, and if you put dollars down on McGregor, you may want to reconsider.
Yep, that’s right, Tyson doesn’t believe McGregor stands a chance against Mayweather. The former boxing champ recently revealed in an interview with podcast Pardon My Take that he believes McGregor made one hell of a mistake agreeing to boxing rules for the upcoming fight, and that he’s going to get murdered.
“McGregor is going to get killed boxing,” he said. “I got mad because I thought they were going to use MMA rules against boxing because that’s what it’s all about: Can the boxer beat the MMA guy? McConor [sic] put his dumbass in a position where he’s gonna get knocked out because this guy’s been doing this all his life since he was a baby. McConor [sic] can’t kick and grab and stuff, so he won’t stand much of a chance.”
Eh, you can’t help but see the guy’s point here. Did McGregor (even though we’re digging the name McConor) make a mistake by agreeing to take on Mayweather’s sports rules instead of his own? We guess we’ll have to wait and see. After all, Mayweather is 49-0 when it comes to his professional boxing career.
“McGregor took the biggest sucker rules in the history of boxing,” Tyson went on. He also said he would have allowed MMA rules if he had ever taken on McGregor.
We aren’t totally eliminating McGregor from this battle, though. He can still pull off the upset. The dude is very powerful and fast. Seven of his nine UFC wins have come by either TKO or KO punches. McGregor can take an ass kicking and still do his thing.
Plus, who doesn’t like to see the underdog win?
