If you ever wonder how hell you’ve been able to score hot chicks, we may have the answer for you. A new study says that women are happier when their partner is less attractive than they are. Which is, honestly, great news for guys who prefer drinking a six pack to cultivating one.

Researchers at Florida State University recently evaluated the relationships of 113 newlywed couples in their twenties in order to understand if respective attractiveness plays a role in overall happiness. Previous research suggested a combination of a hot wife and ugly husband—a.k.a. every sitcom relationship—make for a great marriage, so this study’s result pretty much has a backup and makes even more sense.

To get its findings, the study group had couples answer a questionnaire about their personal desires to be fit and sexy, then each participant was ranked on desirability based on body and face attractiveness.

The results revealed that women who had attractive husbands were more likely to diet and constantly try to lose weight in order to look better and better, and worried more about how they look. It’s not a bad idea to try to live the healthy lifestyle, but to be concerned about that all the time has to be stressful. And let’s face it, no one wants to order a damn salad every time they go out to eat.

On the other hand, those who had not-so-hot husbands didn’t feel the need to diet all the time and compete with other women, which obviously would make a woman happier. These women simply get to sit back and relax, and not worry so much about looking as sexy as their husbands all the time.

“The results reveal that having a physically attractive husband may have negative consequences for wives, especially if those wives are not particularly attractive,” says researcher Tania Reynolds. “The research suggests there might be social factors playing a role in women’s disordered eating.”

In other words, don’t eat that double bacon cheeseburger for yourself. Do it for your wife!
