The Redskins pulled a Week One shocker in our spread game, but the Pats held up their end of the bargain on Monday night. Two downtrodden teams in the Bills and Lions appear to have things going in the right direction, and we’re backing both this week.
DETROIT over Kansas City
The Lions could have stubbed their toe badly in Week One after an early deficit at Tampa Bay. Instead, they showed something that Lions fans have rarely seen lately—poise. They calmly won on the road, overpowering the Bucs in a 27-20 win that was not really that close. Meanwhile, Kansas City got manhandled by the Bills, and it’s not going to get any better here. The Lions have a boy named Suh who will terrorize Matt Cassel. Calvin Johnson catches 10 passes for 180 yards and 2 TDs.

Against the Spread
BUFFALO (-3 ½) over Oakland
The Bills may not be a juggernaut, but they are alive and well. Don’t tell anyone, but quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick has grown into the job and he puts the ball on the money. Don’t expect it to be as easy as it was in Week One, when they overwhelmed the Chiefs, but the balanced attack—Fred Jackson had 112 yards rushing—will keep the Raiders off balance. Oakland has a nasty defense thanks to Richard Seymour, but the Bills have a chip on their shoulder and want to show the home fans that the glory days may be on their way back.
