Finally, some good news to report on Wall Street. We may soon be able to see some hot banker babes in the nude.
Maybe they should try and get in touch with those laid off Lehman hotties? Biz Babes ahoy!
Playboy has announced an open casting call for a new edition of ‘Women On Wall Street’ premiering in its February 2009 issue.
The opportunity is open to all women 18 years or older who were under employ at a Wall Street institution. In a Reuters interview, they even said the magazine is looking to score some top brass senior executive ladies to strip down. Good luck with that one.
Gary Cole, Playboy’s photo editor, made the preposterous claim that it’s not all about the money:
Playboy likely will photograph about 20 women, he said, adding that compensation would depend partly on how many women apply.
"Whether you offer them $500 or $1,000 or $2,000 a piece, that’s probably not going to change anybody’s mind," he said. "The reason they do this is because they want the attention, the opportunity, the experience of doing it. It’s not really for the money."
Playboy has done stuff like this in the past. They’ve looked at the fine ladies of the Olive Garden, Home Depot, Enron, and WorldCom. And almost 20 years ago, back in 1989, Playboy did its first Women of Wall Street photoshoot (2 issues before Pamela Anderson’s first cover appearance). This issue, which appeared after the 1987 stock market crash, was a popular little issue at the time. But then again, I’m not sure if the ’20 Questions interview with John Candy’ or the featured spotlight interview with John Cougar Mellencamp was the real newstand selling point for it (Hey! Those two guys ruled the 80s).
Here’s a look at that August 1989 cover:
She’s reading the Wall Street Journal and carrying a briefcase. There’s no way she doesn’t work on Wall Street!
Playboy is hoping this new stunt will help keep it from following the bath of collapsed bankers. Playboy stock is currently trading at $3.22, which is at an all time low compared to its 52-week high of $12. Anyone interested in applying or know someone who would fit the bill?
