Judging from all available evidence, we believe it’s safe to say that the Iron Ranger Boots from Red Wing ($298) are among the toughest things ever crafted in the history of leather. Based on a design originally intended for Minnesota iron miners—iron miners—they aren’t any less tough today.

These boots still feature a distinctive old-school look and a protective toecap. But the heel pocket, a piece of leather that provides extra support for hardworking men on their feet all day, has been moved from the inside to the outside, giving the boot one less internal seam to boost comfort. Meanwhile, a cork nitrile outsole, triple stitching and chrome speed hooks and eyelets provide durability you won’t find in a fashion boot.

Available in Amber Harness Leather (shown), Black Harness Leather and Hawthorne Muleskinner Leather, Iron Rangers are perfect for hard work or hard play. Prepare to smile as your friends’ Doc Martens and Timberlands cower in fear. Get them here.
