This morning brings more speculation on the Lehman deal. The latest info comes from two sources – the NY-based Wall Street Journal and the London-based Financial Times.

Ironically, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that the British bank, Barclay’s, is in the lead for the takeover proceedings of Lehman, while the Financial Times is reporting that Bank of America is the one taking the lead.

To be fair, both stories mention other suitors, but it is strange that the papers, with clear affiliations to one country, named one of the opposing nation’s biggest banks as heading the takeover. It’s like an epic finger pointing/ hot potato game.
