Samsung is putting a lot of stock in the idea that more people will stay connected via those wrist-fitting mechanisms that many once speculated the smartphone would make obsolete.
Looking to raise its stakes in the smartwatch segment, the brand is showcasing its new 18K rose gold and platinum Gear S2 Classic smartwatches at CES 2016.
The company will also reportedly offer a new strap for its high-tech timepieces by Colombo along with new face designs based on artwork by Keith Haring, Jean-Michael Basquiat, Jeremyville and Burton Morris.
The rose gold Samsung Gear S2, however, will come with an ivory-colored genuine leather band. Look for the platinum high-tech model to feature a black genuine leather band.
Samsung’s smartwatches will soon be iPhone compatible as well.
No official word on pricing for those special edition gold and platinum wearables, but with some of the other Gear S2s listed as high as $350, rest assured, the extra bling for those pieces of connectivity won’t come cheap.
