Secrets of the Bloody Mary

Bloody Caesar

2 oz Vodka (rye works best)

½ oz lemon juice

4 dashes Worcestershire

3 pinches of salt

2 pinches of black pepper

Tabasco to taste

4 oz of Clamato (yes there’s clam juice in it but it’s great so man up)

Shake, strain and pour.

Bloody Beer (Michelada, in some regions of Mexico)

4 oz of tomato juice

¾ Lime juice

6 dashes of Worcestershire

4 dashes of a tex-mex style hot sauce (Tapatio or Valentin work best)

2 pinches Black pepper

3 pinches of Salt

One Lager beer

Stir all ingredients together in a pint glass, garnish with a lime wedge and serve.

My favorite modern variation

2 oz  Bacon Fat-washed Karlssons Gold Vodka*

1tsp Horseradish

¾ Lemon Juice

6 dashes Worcestershire

Sriracha hot sauce to taste (red bottle green spout, you know the one)

1 dash of soy sauce

4 oz tomato juice

Salt and cracked black pepper to taste.

Shake, strain and pour. Garnish with pickled anything.

*In a big bowl or bucket add .750l of Karlssons Gold Vodka and half a cup of rendered bacon fat, mix well, then let sit for 4 hours. Refrigerate and remove fat when hardened. Taste, and if need be, add more vodka.
