Let’s face it: sports commentators, male or female, usually don’t have much of a power to add or detract from our knowledge/enjoyment of what’s going on during any given sporting event (e.g. John Madden, Steve Lavin, etc). After consuming the amount of beer and fried snacks that any American game requires, you probably wouldn’t even notice if they switched their dialogue from football to metaphysics or international politics. Howard Cocell used to pull that crap all the time.
So, let’s applaud these female anchors not just on the rigor of their reporting, but on their ability to make us say, “Game? What game? Oh, right, the football game. You are so blindingly sexy that I forgot the concept of ‘athletic competition’ for a second. My bad.”
Jill was an ESPN sideline reporter for just one season in 2004, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t have accolades before any male drooled while she talked about hot routes. She’s a University of Miami grad, and in 2001, she was voted “Sexiest Sportscaster” by Playboy. She was ranked #48 on the Maxim Hot 100 Women of 2002 and #70 on the FHM 100 Sexiest Women of 2003. Despite being around huge and wealthy athletes for so many years, this hot sports woman married a voice actor named Doug Lawrence, who voices characters on Spongebob Squarepants. Score one for the nerds!
Pictured here in her native habitat (striding confidently across a basketball court), the tall and amazingly hot Ms. Andrews is the most recognizable sideline reporter today. She and Ms. Arrington would certainly be college rivals, as she graduated from the University of Florida in 2000. She’s covered nearly every kind of major sporting event, from the College World Series to even the Great Outdoor Games. In 2007, she beat out Lisa Salters, Krista Voda, and others to become Playboy’s “Sexiest Sportscaster” for that year. Hmm, I guess this Playboy magazine might know a thing or two about hot women. And, as far as sideline reporters go, Erin is right there at the top of hottest all-time.
Jillian is a Canadian reporter with extensive training in broadcast journalism and weather analysis, which is actually why she was hired by FOX in 2000: she gave the weather report for FOX NFL Sunday. Terry Bradshaw was reportedly very, very jealous of her golden locks. Even though she no longer provides the much needed visual relief from the neanderthal motif of NFL Sunday’s broadcast team, Jillian remains vocal both on her bisexuality (settle down) and her dedication to sheltering animals. Yes, both of those facts make her an extremely alluring woman; no, you can not be one of the animals that she shelters. We don’t care how much back hair you have.
Lisa has been a sideline reporter and actress for over a decade. She starred in Aaron Spelling’s Sunset Beach (yeah, we forgot about that one too), hosted some shows for FOX, and then finally became well-known on The Best Damn Sports Show Period. She’s a California girl who spent most of her time in San Diego or Huntington Beach, developing the lovely figure and tan that you see above. She gained national notoriety when she began to cover Monday Night Football on ABC, but the following year, ABC replaced her with Michele Tafoya. We speculate that, if Lisa had stayed on and reported in that bikini pictured above (take another look; take two or three), ABC may have reconsidered.
Lisa is one of those achingly beautiful women who also happens to defy expectations. She literally causes physical pain to passing men with her beauty. If you see a trail of men passed out on the street, Ms. Dergan probably just walked by. Her sideline reporting began with Fox Sports Net, where she reported from such high-profile sporting events as the Kentucky Derby, the U.S. Open and the Super Bowl. Like every one of the other women on this list, she was also featured in the sticky pages of Playboy; however, her big break actually came as a star in Japan. She even learned part of the language in extension classes at UCLA. Lastly, she was a decorator for many Chili’s restaurants. Hey, the most beautiful among us can have crappy jobs as well.
Now, you can do some reporting of your own. Check out the rest of these sexy leaders in sportscasting.
