According to Apple, legendary computing pioneer Steve Jobs, having battled cancer for years, died earlier today. He was 56. Here is Apple’s statement:

We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today.

Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve.

His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts.

We here at Made Man, who spend all day working on MacBooks, talking on iPhones and playing with iPads, are deeply saddened as well. When Jobs stepped down as CEO of Apple in late August, we posted a couple tributes to him, one funny, one tough. We think it’s only appropriate we share them again here. Rest in peace, Mr. Jobs. You left us too soon.
