A sharp narrative tongue is sexy, according to a new study published in Personal Relationships.
Researchers from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University at Buffalo (SUNY) asked 388 students, 55 percent of whom were women, to rate the attractiveness of a potential partner based on photos and short bios. Some bios included information on storytelling abilities— “often tells really good stories” and “makes the characters and settings come alive.” Men with strong storytelling skills were considered as higher status than those who were less than raconteurs, and this status made them more romantically attractive to women.
