Having been around since 1979, Mountainsmith is a world leader in the outdoor provisions field offering an array of products that include tents, technical bags, coolers and even pet products. Mountainsmith’s products have well-constructed and durable designs that will take your outdoor experience to a whole new level. Basically, if you are an active outdoorsman who is looking for quality provisions that will withstand the test of time, then Mountainsmith should be your go-to brand.
I tested their Mayhem 35 backpack and found that it is arguably one of the best backcountry backpacks on the market. As an avid skier, I often find myself bringing everything I own on my ski trips, forcing me to pack multiple bags for the trip. This is no longer the case with the Mayhem 35, which holds all of my gear and then some. But it’s more than just a backpack that you can stuff with your paraphernalia; it is one of the most versatile packs on the market—replete with a front panel mesh pocket for your helmet, a tool mount, a water bottle pocket to ensure hydration and pockets for your passport and cell phone. You can take off on your backcountry excursion and ultimately end up in another country with no worries. It is also amazingly secure due to the backpack’s wire frame stabilizer bar and forward-pull waist belt. The only thing it’s missing is a place to store some beers for your journey.
But don’t be too concerned about the beers. Mountainsmith has you covered on that front, as well, with their Cooler Tube. The Cooler Tube’s design looks like a yoga mat case, but it’s actually for carrying a six-pack of beer. Imagine: You sling a six pack over your shoulder and its stay cold while you are out hiking for the day. Don’t want to wait for the end of the day to down a few? The full-length zipper allows you to have one or two along the way without struggling to get them out. Brilliant!
