Everything old is new again. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the world of digital photography. As social media services like Instagram and apps like Super Retro show us, people long for the old-style images produced by vintage cameras. As of yet, though, there aren’t many convenient ways to make your own Wonder Years-style digital video footage. That’s why we were so excited about the Bee from Fuuvi.
Weighing in at about an ounce and a half, the Bee allows you to record as much as 100 minutes on a single charge. It’s small enough to fit in your pocket and has a cool retro design all its own. While the video looks old school, it comes in 640×480 resolution and shoots at 30 frames per second. SDHC/MicroSD support allows you to easily move the video from the Bee onto a PC or Mac. One important note: just like in those Wonder Years clips, the Bee does not record sound. You’ll have to lay some old Beatles tracks over it or something. Here’s how the footage looks:
Of course, the coolest feature of the Fuuvi Bee Camera is the price point. For a mere 80 clams you can pick up what will surely be one of the quirkiest gadgets to come down the pike for 2012. Get it here.
