There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for my three girls. However, one aspect of fatherhood that I and many other dads struggle with is how to look cool carrying a diaper bag. Let’s face it, paisley patterns just don’t scream manly. I tried using a variety of backpacks and sometimes small shopping bags from high-end stores to hide the fact that I was even carrying one. Although some of the backpacks were pretty sweet looking, and the shopping bags were compact, none were fully equipped to carry the complete array of necessities that a stylish father on the go needs for his kids. You know, compartments for a changing pad, diapers, wipes, bottles, formula, burp cloths… the list goes on.
Fast forward one year since the youngest of my girls was in diapers, and media personality, producer and father of two Jack Osbourne has solved this problem with diaper bags that are both organized and rugged. The Tier 1-D (D is for Dad) offerings suit a “High Speed, Low Drag” kind of father. I am not using that military phrase lightly either. These bags are as tough as they come, made in the USA with military-grade materials that include durable, weather-resistant Cordura fabric, quick-release Cobra buckles and riggers webbing handles.
Three varieties—Messenger Bag ($295, lead photo), Range ($295, above) and Deployment Tote ($270, below)—come in colors such as black and coyote brown. If the price tag looks a little high, don’t worry, they will outlive their diaper-carrying jobs and can easily be transformed into a gym bag or overnight duffel to give you the most bang for your buck. So why not ask for one—or order for a new dad—this Father’s Day?
