First time we saw these smaller-than-a-baseball units, we chuckled at how cute they looked. Then we noticed the clever features: a telescoping design and magnetized base that transform them into an egg for easy transport, a USB-friendly charging system and the capability to daisy-chain several sets together for maximum volume. Finally, we gave the X-Mini MAX II Capsule Speakers ($35/pair) a listen. We are hardly audio experts, but the brand’s slogan, “Sound Beyond Size” is as accurate as the statement, “Lady Gaga enjoys attention.” While they won’t burst your eardrums, they’re perfect for travel, small BBQs and the beach.
